Travel Advisory

The ILPS US Host Committee is issuing the Travel Advisory below to provide all people planning to participate in the ILPS US Conference Right to Exist, Right to Resist Conference: Unite to Fight Police Terror, State Repression, and Racism. You can download the full travel advisory here.

We advise to register prior to the conference by completing Registration Online here:

On-site registration will be available on site starting at 9:00am on Saturday October 22nd, 2016.

Housing will not be provided. We recommend participants to secure housing close to the venue and public transportation. Please see the Travel Advisory at the link above to see a full list of nearby hotels.

Light breakfast and lunch will be covered by the conference registration fee. Dinner will be on your own. We will provide a list of restaurants within walking distance from the conference location.

A parking lot and street parking are available.

All participants must make their own transportation arrangements to and from the Conference. Here is a link to Chicago Public transit:

Travel to the 7pm Community Mobilization will be announced at the conference venue on the day of.


Midway International Airport (MDW)

is the closest airport to Teamster City Conference Hall (9.1 miles). Upon arrival visitors can take a taxi, rental car or public transportation via Chicago Transit Authority (CTA), which can be made easier by buying a Metra card at the airport.

CTA is the most affordable to get to the venue. With your Metra card, please take the Orange Line Loop train from MDW, and get down at Ashland Station. Walk for about a minute towards the Ashland Orange Line station, take Bus 9/X9 (Irving Park) and go down at Ashland Ave. & Van Beuren. Travel time is approximately 40 minutes.

Taxis from MDW are also available and can take about 31 min.  Cab fares range from $30-$40.

O’Hare International Airport (ORD):

Is approx. 24 miles to the venue. Upon arrival, visitors can take a taxi or rental car and can take 38-50min drive, depending on traffic. CTA would take roughly 54 minutes to an hour transit. Cab fares range from $60-80.


Fall in Chicago is usually windy and cold. Please bring sweater or jacket and an umbrella
for rainy days.
